Association of Community Pharmacists of India – In Patient Health Care
It is my great privilege to introduce you about ACPI (Association of Community Pharmacists of India) and work ACPI doing in patient health care . ACPI was recently launched by Manipal College of Pharmaceutical Sciences under the guidance of Prof. Anantha Naik Nagappa (President) and Dr. N.Udupa (Principle of Manipal College of Pharmaceutical Sciences). The main motive of ACPI is building the reputation of pharmacists by serving the society or community in health care.

In developing countries such as India, the major reason of patient incompliance is lack of drug information to the patients regarding to drug administration, precautions, dose and contraindications of the drugs. ACPI is now going to start Drug Information center, by this patients can inquire about drug and its mode administration at any time round the clock.

Second step, which is already initiated, is Blood donor data base , through this ACPI formulated the blood group data base of every member and in case of any emergency patients can call at ACPI centers and get the blood donors for their blood group.
There are large number of drugs get wasted every day which may be a unused drug samples by physicians and health care professionals of unused and remaining drugs of patients, which can be further used for poor patients. ACPI is taken the initiatives of collecting these types of drugs from the Physicians, Patients and Students by putting drug collection boxes at various locations such as hospitals, hostels, colleges and other public locations. After the collection of all these drugs, these are handed over to government and other hospitals from where poor patients can be benefited.

Plan 365 – in this plan patient needs to pay only Rs. 360 for an annual pharmaceutical care which involves various blood test including Diabetes and Blood pressure tests in every 3 months for the patients.
ACPI also recently launched online Edition of “International Journal of Community pharmacists” to give more focus on community pharmacy and patient care.

ACPI is very rapidly spreading all over the India under the deep guidance of Prof Anantha Naik Nagappa ( President ) and Dr. N.Udupa ( Principle Of Manipal College Of Pharmaceutical Sciences). You can also initiate such kind of programs in your college and city also to promote patient health and their quality of life. Team of ACPI is always ready to help such kind of initiatives.
