SOURCE:It consists of dried stem wood of Picrasma excelsa of family Simarubaceae. CONSTITUENTS:The active constituents of quassia wood are amaroid compounds like quassin, neoquassin, isoquassin and 18 hydroxy quassin. USES: It is used as bitter tonic It is given in enema in the form of infusion to expel threadworms. Infusion is also used as lotion for pediculosis. Quassia possesses insecticidal properties.
