National pharmacy week 2007 was celebrated in JSPM’s Jayawantrao Sawant College of Pharmacy & Research, Hadapsar, pune with a great zeal. The theme this programme was “Self medication: Ask you pharmacist”. The programme commenced with a health rally of B.Pharm students & staff members in hadapsar area.

The Pharmaceutical Care For Diabetic Patients : Community Pharmacists Effort In India

The Pharmaceutical Care is an important health care intervention which is mandatory for quality use of medicine. The Patients are supposed to get all the practical information regarding the drugs they are prescribed by doctors.

The community pharmacist is the globally accepted professional to cater the pharmaceutical care to the patients at the time of dispensing the medicine it self. The World Health Organization in collaboration with Federation International Pharmacy has come out with a model to provide the pharmaceutical care. In this patients are advised regarding how to store and use medicines. They are also supposed to advice regarding Life style factors and disease specific factors. This will correct the wrong practices in medicine usage and make the patient a partner in his improvement of health.

Inauguration of Annual Day Celebrations Andhra University College of Pharmaceutical Sciences - 2008

Visaapatnam, India, Feb 25th,2008:

A function to mark the beginning of the celebrations done in connection with the Annual Day 2007-2008 of Andhra University College of Pharmaceutical Sciences (AUCOPS),Vizag,AP,India was held today in the gallery of the College. The function was organized by the III B.Pharm students and was attended by all the staff.

The celebrations were inaugurated by the Principal, AUCOPS, Prof. K.P.R. Chowadary and the Head of the Department, Prof. S.Satyanarayana. They inaugurated the celebrations by lighting a lamp. Prof. T. Satyanarayana, Member,Pharmacy Council of India and Prof. J.Vijaya Ratna also participated in lighting the traditional lamp.

Today Feb 5th, 2008 in the college premises about two hundred M. Pharm. and B. Pharm. students participated in poster, model presentation based on social awareness topics like No smoking, blood donation, AIDS, drug abuses, Hepatitis, alcohol addiction.

The Chief Guest, Sardar S. S. Longia, Retd. Deputy Director inaugurated Poster and Model competition. Mr. Longia appreciates the working of college. Mr.Longia lectured the students about the evils of society and how will pharmacist plays a important role.

Blood Donation Camp In College Of Pharmacy, Bela

Bela, Amar Shaheed Baba Ajit Singh Meorial College of Pharmacy, Bela (Ropar) organized “Blood Donation Camp” on 04.02.08 under the activity of Pharm Fest –2008 in colabration State Bank of Patilla and Blood Donor Council, Murinda. The camp received good response and about 100 students, staff and general public donated their blood.

A team of doctors from PGI Chandigarh collected the blood from the volunteers after due screening and general medical check up. Shri C. S. Kang, Deputy general Manager of SBOP inagurated the camp. He said the blood donation is valuable donation which helps the needy ailing patients.

Pharmacy for Sustainable Development

The 5th Pharma-IndoChina Conference with the theme “Pharmacy for Sustainable Development.” was held during November, 21-24, 2007, organized by Mahidol University.

Under the theme of “Pharmacy for Sustainable Development” the conference focused on recent advances in all disciplines of Pharmaceutical Sciences, where oral and poster presentations were delivered by participants of the different parts of world. Furthermore a section designated as Young Scientists Forum has added encouragement to undergraduate/graduate students to present their work in an international environment.

The 59th Indian Pharmaceutical Congress : A Report

The 59th Indian Pharmaceutical Congress was held at Department of Pharmaceutics, BHU (Banaras Hindu University), Varanasi from 20th to 23th December 2007 with an aim to disseminate knowledge and facilitate exchange of new ideas among the members of Pharmacy Profession.

Inauguration of the 59th IPC was done on 20th December at 4.30pm. Dr. John L. LaMattina senior vice president, Pfizer Inc and President, Pfizer Global Research and Development was the guest of honour.
