In most of the world, pharmacy education  enables  pharmacists  to  deal  with  the  safe  and effective use of drugs, primary healthcare, preventive medicine and health promotion. It also emphasizes on the research and development  of  pharmaceuticals  and  the  production  of  new drugs. Areas such as pharmacogenomics, pharmacoinformatics (drug  information),  drug  abuse,  geriatric  pharmacy,  patient counseling and  compliance, research methods and evidence based  medicine  pharmacoeconomics,  and  pharma- coepidemiology  (drug  utilization  studies),  public  health pharmacy  and  drug  policy  have  to  be  taught  to  the  young pharmacy   course   learners   besides   the   traditional pharmaceutical  chemistry,  pharmaceutical  analysis, pharmaceutics,  pharmacology  and  pharmacognosy. In  addition  there  is  tremendous  need  for  inculcating  the knowledge  about  the  intellectual  property  rights  and  legal aspects  involved  in  production,  supply  and    practice  in  the present scenario of globalization.
