Objectives And Scope Of The Seminar:
Healthcare education has a significant impact on the health of the community and on improving services for the patient. It also instills fundamental values and directs specific attitudes in the healthcare professionals. In most of the world, pharmacy education enables pharmacists to deal with the safe and effective use of drugs, primary healthcare, preventive medicine and health promotion. It also emphasizes on the research and development of pharmaceuticals and the production of new drugs. Areas such as pharmacogenomics, pharmacoinformatics (drug information), drug abuse, geriatric pharmacy, patient counseling and compliance, research methods and evidence based medicine pharmacoeconomics, and pharma- coepidemiology (drug utilization studies), public health pharmacy and drug policy have to be taught to the young pharmacy course learners besides the traditional pharmaceutical chemistry, pharmaceutical analysis, pharmaceutics, pharmacology and pharmacognosy. In addition there is tremendous need for inculcating the knowledge about the intellectual property rights and legal aspects involved in production, supply and practice in the present scenario of globalization. Thus the organizing committee felt the necessity to organize a comprehensive seminar in the field of pharmaceutical sciences for the benefit of future managers in this field for safeguarding the industry and public health.
