Andhra University Pharmacy Alumni Meeting on 10th January 2007

Andhra Pradesh, India, Jan 2nd, 2007: A meeting of the Andhra University Pharmacy Alumni will be held on 10th January 2007 at 4:00 PM onwards in the AU College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Andhra University, Visakhapatnam – 533 003. All the Alumni are requested to attend the meeting.

They are further requested to send (i) A recent photograph (postcard size) with details and (ii) A brief message to the undersigned at the earliest. The message may consist of the following information in brief.

IPA Chhattisgarh Local Branch Raipur: National Pharmacy Week Celebration 2006

Chhattisgarh local branch of Indian pharmaceutical association, Raipur celebrated National Pharmacy week 2006 from Nov. 19 th to Nov.25 th in order to bring awareness amongst the public on the theme “Self medication : how safe? Ask your Pharmacist”.

From 19thto 26 th November, Indian Pharmaceutical Association (IPA) is celebrating National Pharmacy Week (NPW), whereby various issues pertaining to pharmacy and the professionals from the field will be taken up. With respect to the big event, Deptt. Of Pharmacy – Lovely Institutes organized a seminar and various events on Tuesday highlighting various subjects that affect the medical scene in India. This was the biggest event yet organized in the history of Pharmacy Industry in any of the institute yet.

APTI Chhattisgarh State Branch Inauguration News

The APTI Chhattisgarh state branch was inaugurated recently by Prof. C.K.Kokate, living legend in pharmacy profeesion. Prof. S.Saraf , director and head, institute of pharmacy, Pt. Ravishanker Shukla university , Raipur also graced the occasion. Prof. Kokate bestowed his best wishes to APTI C.G. state branch by distributing the certificates to all C.G. APTI life members.While welcoming the people, Dr.(Mrs.) S. Saraf , President, APTI C.G. state branch, said that to fulfill the objectives of APTI in this younger state, Chhattisgarh, this is our small effort to walk in harmony with the pharmacy teachers of rest of the country and could be a beginning to provide a common platform to Pharmacy Teachers of this state. Mr. Deependra Singh, Secretary APTI C.G. branch also expressed vision of APTI, C.G. branch. Vice president of APTI, C.G. branch Mr. S.J. Dahawal acknowledged APTI, India and all those associated directly and indirectly with the formation of the new branch.

Ph.D. Awarded to Sathyanarayana Dondeti

D.Sathyanarayana, Reader in Pharmacy, Annamalai University, has been awarded the Doctor of Philosophy in Pharmacy by Annamalai University, Tamil Nadu, India, in July 2006, for his work entitled "Analytical Method for Selected Drugs Using Custom Developed and Optimized Neural Networks" under the guidance of Dr. K. Kannan, Professor of Pharmacy, Annamalai University.

Five different two-component formulation: Losartan potassium – Hydrochlorothiazide; Phenobarbitone – Phenytoin sodium; Captopril – Hydrochlorothiazide; Atenolol – Losartan potassium; Mefenamic acid – Paracetamol were studied for each of the calibration model developed in the research work.

Ph. D. Awarded to Y.S. Tanwar

Mr. Y.S. Tanwar, Reader (Pharmaceutics) at B.N. College of Pharmacy, Udaipur (Rajasthan) has been awarded Ph.D. by Mohanlal Sukhadia University, Udaipur (Rajasthan) on the topic “Pharmaceutical and biotechnological studies on herbs and their bioactive molecules for cardiovascular diseases with special reference to Commiphora.”

Current advances in Phytopharmaceuticals : Two Day Seminar at Institute of Pharmacy,Raipur

Raipur,India,May 05,2006: Two day seminar of Indian Society of Pharmacognosy on “Current advances in Phytopharmaceuticals” sponsored by University Grant Commission New Delhi, was held at Institute of Pharmacy, Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University, Raipur on 11-12th March 2006. Prof. S. Saraf, Director institute of Pharmacy was the chairman of Local Organizing Committee. The objectives of the seminar were to provide platform and exposure to young researchers, and to arrange lectures from experts and an open discussion on contemporary scientific issues.
