Time Management in Pharmacy...No controversies!!!
Before proceeding, i would like to clarify that my ideas in this blog are not intended to contradict two of my learnet fellows who have already posted blogs on this topic. But, afterall these are my ideas which i have made with my experiences.
Fine, i would like to put a question before you. How much time is involved for a new drug molecule to come into the market???
The answer is probably, long or too long. 10-12 years is in no way a meagre time period!!! Although Phase IV of clinical trials does allow further research on more activities and indications of that drug molecule besides its marketing, but it doesn't guarenty a full-fledge success. You know clinical trials. How much planning they require. Inspite of every possible use to effective time management, we aren't sure whether the drug molecule passes the test by regulatory body like FDA. Infact, hardly 5 % of drugs reach the indian market per year. So can we say that time management is the sole decider of the height that can be reached??? I dont think so...
Ok, I would like to give you my own example of success of time management in making me victorious and also the success that was brought to me inspite of no proper planning. All these examples are from my proffessional life of B.Pharm. Since, they are related to my proffessional course, iam citing them over here.
I am among the 6 finalists of this competition. The way how i reached to this stage involved very little/no planning at all. As I had already stated in one of my blogs, I came across the 'skills-test-2008' just 2 days before its deadline. Also, the notice was put up on our notice board just 3 days before the last date of submission. Also, as already stated in one of my blogs, i was very limited in terms of access and time. I hurried my way somehow to submit the requirements involved. Truely speaking, I had no idea of how much impact my 'hasty work' would make on judges' considerations.
Regarding, use of proper planning, i want to put forth the plannings of my work i had made, to get selected among 120 students selected under 'Summer Research Fellowship Programme' by 'Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR)'. I was informed about the notification of that competition nearly 4 months before the last date. You know 4 months, how long it is...!!! I had carefully planned the work under the guidance of one of my most able lecturers (he was my first ideal in pharmacy)... With this planned work, i was rewarded with success by JNCASR.
Infact, effective time management has played a very small role in my life. And it is the case i have seen in most of the people's life. It is the 'condition' in which we are working. 'Situation' plays a more dominant role in that scenario. Perhaps, life has everything determined for us. Doing work is our part. One must never think of the outcome he/she would get. He/she just needs to put his/her level best and most important of all is to give a dare to do that work. Destiny is something that never says you what it has planned for you. One must remember, "No one is born intelligent...It is your work, approach and ofcourse the situation that makes you intelligent" ...!!!!
