Positioned within the Clinical and Quantitative Sciences organization in the Merck Research Laboratories, the HES department is a technical, research-focused department of health economists and statisticians who develop models and analyze clinical trial data in order to assess the economic value of Merck's drugs and vaccines. Individuals in the department are encouraged to publish their research.
The (Senior) Health Economist will collaborate with other departmental members to develop cost-effectiveness and budget impact models to project the impact of drugs and vaccines on patient outcomes and costs. The individual will provide technical guidance to the Global Outcomes Research department in adapting these economic models in accordance with local requirements/guidelines to support reimbursement needs. The (Senior) Health Economist will assess the need for and incorporate economic outcome measures into clinical research plans. The individual will collaborate with the clinical team in the design, analysis and reporting of economic data from these clinical trials. The (Senior) Health Economist will also provide technical review of published health economic evaluations. The (Senior) Health Economist is encouraged to identify and pursue solutions to methodological issues arising in the conduct and analysis of health economic evaluations.
