| Abstract | A huge population in the world is suffering from diabetes mellitus, out of which around 6%-12% are suffering from type-1 while the remaining 85%-90% with type-2. Insulin is available as subcutaneous injections which may be considered as invasive. Insulin drug delivery is essential in type-1 while it is required in type-2 but at the later stage. The main objectives for developing new non-invasive methods are to reduce the pain and to improve the patient compliance associated with hypoglycemic injections. The inhalational system EXUBERA® has been available in U.S and Europe for the patients as non –invasive insulin drug delivery system. |
