How Do I...?

One of my roles as "LC Troubleshooting" editor is to field questions from readers about various problems with liquid chromatography (LC) separations. I am happy to provide answers, usually by e-mail (John.Dolan@LCResources.com

Determination of ethanol in Abhayarishta by gas chromatography

A simple, rapid, precise and accurate gas liquid chromatographic method was developed for the determination of ethanol in marketed preparation of abhayarishta using flame ionization detector. The separation was performed employing carbowax 20 M stainless steel column using nitrogen as a carrier gas at optimized conditions.

A RP-HPLC method for simultaneous estimation of paracetamol and aceclofenac in tablets

A simple, selective, rapid, precise and economical reverse phase HPLC method has been developed for the simultaneous estimation of paracetamol and aceclofenac from pharmaceutical dosage forms. The method was carried out on a Hichrom C18 (25 cm×4.6 mm i.d., 5 µ) column with a mobile phase consisting of acetonitrile:20 mM phosphate buffer (pH 5.0) (60:40 v/v) at a flow rate of 0.8 ml/min.

High performance liquid chromatographic determination of aspirin and clopidogrel in tablets

A reverse phase high performance liquid chromatographic method to determine aspirin and clopidogrel in combined dosage form is proposed. The chromatographic resolution of aspirin and clopidogrel was obtained in a mobile phase consisting of 0.1% v/v triethylamine (pH 4.0):acetonitrile in the ratio 25:75% (v/v) in an isocratic elution.

Development of RP-HPLC for analysis of human insulin

The objective of the present work is to develop a simple and sensitive method for analysis of human insulin injection by using reverse-phase high performance liquid chromatography technique. A reverse-phase high performance liquid chromatography method with UV-detection at room temperature has been developed for the analysis of insulin from formulation.

Biomonitoring: Polybrominated Diphenyl Ethers and Polybrominated Biphenyls Using Capillary GC with Electron...

Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) have emerged as a significant class of persistent organic pollutants (POPs). These POPs join the organochlorine pesticides (OCs) and polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) and polybrominated (PBB) biphenyl congeners as environmentally significant POPs that must be biomonitored continuously.

Analytical Method Validation in Proteomics and Peptidomics Studies

While previous "Validation Viewpoint" columns have focussed on conventional and recombinant pharmaceutical products, and at times, bioanalytical methods, we think it is also appropriate to address method validation as it relates to -omics-type studies.

Frequently Asked Questions about Hydrogen Carrier Gas

Many gas chromatographers are considering hydrogen carrier gas instead of helium or nitrogen, but they might hesitate to do so because they have questions about performance, safety, or cost. This month's "GC Connections" focuses on these and other issues related to hydrogen in the gas chromatography laboratory.
