About R.S.Prasad :

R.S Prasad is presently Managing Director of Suven Nishtaa Pharma Private Limited, an End to End Pharmaceutical services Providing Organization with the State of the Art Facilities.Since February, 2007 working as Managing Director of Suven Nishtaa Pharma Pvt. Ltd., an associate company of Suven Life Sciences Ltd.

Earlier R.S.Prasad worked as Director and CEO of Strides Arcolab Limited, Bangalore and as the Executive Director & Chief Executive Officer of Orchid Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals Ltd, Chennai, responsible for driving the company’s strategic and operational transformation into a composite pharmaceutical major, focused on global generics.

Mr. Prasad has a Masters Degree in Pharmacy from Andhra University with specialization in pharmaceutical and fermentation technology. A Gold medalist in his post graduation studies, he has had an outstanding academic record all through. Mr. Prasad has several publications and patents to his credit.

He has over 33 years of varied and value added experience in the pharmaceutical industry covering virtually every area of pharmaceutical operations including R&D, regulatory, manufacturing, engineering, supply chain, quality, analytical, projects, finance, marketing and Human resources. He has a pioneering track-record in conceptualizing, designing, establishing and managing pharmaceutical facilities that comply with stringent US FDA standards. He has an end-to-end grasp of all pharmaceutical operations, with a complete mastery over the underlying science, technology and business processes that helps him to come up with innovative initiatives and effective solutions all the time.

Prior to his stint at Strides and Orchid, he has been holding senior positions in reputed companies such as Dr Reddy’s Laboratories, Ranbaxy Laboratories, Biological Evans, Natco Fine Pharmaceuticals and Standard Organics. In each of the companies, he has established facilities for diverse product groups, with standards ahead of the contemporary times and enabled aggressive business development. He started his career in the early 1970s with India’s Premier Pharmaceutical organization of the times, IDPL, where he not only acquired skills and competencies of a world-class pharmaceutical technologist, but also established and managed a whole new manufacturing subsidiary , UPDPL, at a young age of 28 years.

Mr. Prasad is widely credited with positioning Dr Reddy’s (1994-2002), and the Indian pharmaceutical industry in general, in the late 1990s on the global generics map by engineering, operationalising and managing their generics project from concept to commercialization, winning in the process a pioneering 180 day market exclusivity for a lead product. He was responsible for building a whole new infrastructure base and skill- set for the company in the advanced generics business, on an industry leading basis. He was instrumental in filing over 25 Abbreviated New Drug Applications (ANDAs) and developing several patented novel dosage forms at Dr Reddy’s.

At Orchid (2002-2005, to date), Mr. Prasad has successfully driven the formulations business of the company into the advanced markets of US and Europe by creating a massive pharmaceutical development and manufacturing infrastructure, building organisational and business competencies of a high order and securing US FDA approvals in the shortest time span of Two and Half years, all from a green field stage. His achievements at Orchid were unparalleled in terms of their product breadth, manufacturing scale, operational scope and delivery timelines. In the very first year of operations, he brought the company into the top rank of ANDA filings in the country, with as many as 18 ANDA filings.

Apart from creation of world-class assets, development of human resources has been his major forte and passion. In his three decades of pharmaceutical engineering and management, he has trained and mentored hundreds of professionals who are today occupying senior and top level positions in pharmaceutical companies in India and abroad. His ability to passionately coach people and transform ordinary aspirants to extraordinary achievers is widely acknowledged in the industry. In every organization he has been with, he has institutionalized value creation, competency building and successful delivery as core credos through effective collaboration, team work and leadership.
