Parasympathetic system
The preganglionic axons of the parasympathetic system have their origin (cell bodies) in the lower brain (cranium, i.e. mid brain and medulla oblongata) and in the sacral portion of the spinal cord (craniosacral region) the parasympathetic ganglia are located usually very close to in the effected organ. The parasympathetic fibers are long while the post ganglionic axons arising from parasympathetic ganglia are short.
