Groups are made of personalities, and the interesting thing about them is chemistry” -Peter Hook
“There's no way you can create chemistry where none exists”-Michael Parkinson
“Organic chemistry is the chemistry of carbon compounds. Biochemistry is the study of carbon compounds that crawl.”- Mike Adam
“Don't try to force chemistry between two people or else it may just blow up at you” -Anonymous.

Chemistry being muddled up by many...
Actually, most of the students fear chemistry, especially organic chemistry because of the mechanism of reactions involved. I agree that these are really difficult to begin with, but afterall nothing is easy in this world. Challenges are meant to be faced in life; similarly, though chemistry is a challenge, but if one is thorough with the concepts and mechanisms, its really interesting and worth studying chemistry.
Very much correct
You said very much correct in your comments and I appriciate it. Definitely if you see some difficulties they must not bother you but encourage you to overcome the challenge.
One more fact is that we get many chemistry people, but we get very rarely the people who have genuine affection and passion for it. Such pharma students are needed at present, because if a Medicinal Chemistry student has very sound knowledge of the reactions and mechanisms he can leap ahead of the MSc student in competition, as he has knowledge of both fields Chemistry as well as Pharmaceutical aspects.
Pharma students must be 'Hungry'!!!
What I think is that pharma students must be greedy for gaining knowledge...They must have an avarice in their eyes to know more and more about the subjects...They must try to predict an unknown reaction mechanism on their own without any seeking any external help....Only then can they enjoy the subject....If they succeed in predicting the mechanism, then what a sense of achievement one procures!!!!
corelations....
Chemistry is also such a subject which may be linked to any other medical subjects in some way.
e.g.- 1) to biochemistry, by means of reactions involved in metabolic pathways
2) to medicinal chemistry,by means of synthesis and metabolism of drugs.
3) to pharmacology and biopharmaceutics, by means of biotransformation of drugs in body.
Mistery!!!!!!
Hi Laksha,
I feel that so many students are in assumption that "CHEMISTRY IS A BIG MISTERY", Ofcoure me too in the same feel at some times...
Just Go Ahead your talks are good. And I feel its very healthy to participate in like these open discussions, From now onwards I will be in touch with this info.net as I like this type of open conversations. Bye for this time.

Mystery not any more
Mysteries are meant to be solved. Chemistry is no more a mystery; learning chemistry is really fun if done properly. The teachers must convert the boring classes into interactive presentations & just see the difference. The student must be taught the basics and once he/she learns them start giving quiz, questions and make them to show on board how the reaction takes place, they will never forget the reactions and also learn chemistry in a very good way. That’s what I think.
I too like open discussions because there is no boundary, and you can talk openly with freedom. I am thankful for your support and appreciation.
Yes...
Yes In my graduation I came across two excellent teachers who taught chemistry in a nice way and made me fell free to capture it, and because their teaching only I got interest in Chemistry. Even they only given exact relationship between organic chemistry and our medicinal chemistry, Just by giving a benzene ring how to synthesize a drug molecule was taught by them in that period, Its wise worthy.

This is what I learnt too
I have learnt through my journey that every subject has some corelation and when talking about our subjects its like, if u have sound knowledge of organic chemistry u can become good in medicinal chemistry, if you have good study of anatomy, physiology & pathology you can be good at P'cology. There are benifits of learning these subjects and thats what I feel is good about being Pharmacist. Although we are Jacks but yes we are, no one can deny our presence.
