“25 million sufferers of Alzheimer’s disease in the world” (1); The number of patients may quadruple by 2050. (2)
Alzheimer's disease (AD), also called Alzheimer disease or simply Alzheimer's, is the most common form of dementia. It was first described by German psychiatrist Alois Alzheimer in 1901and hence named after him. It is diagnosed in people over 65 years of age, although the less-prevalent early-onset Alzheimer's can occur much earlier.

World Alzheimer’s Day was observed on September 21st, 2008. The theme for this year's Alzheimer's Day was 'No Time to Lose, Care for the Caregivers.' It recognizes the supportive role of those who look after the patients.
Scientists of the National Botanical Research Institute (NBRI), a premier CSIR laboratory, claimed to have found an herbal cure to the Alzheimer’s disease, which causes gradual loss of memory in the aged people. (4)
The work is going in good direction and scientists are searching for more and more drugs & therapies to help the patients with AD and also to prevent healthy people from getting the disease. As of 2008, the safety and efficacy of more than 400 pharmaceutical treatments are being investigated in clinical trials worldwide, and approximately one-fourth of these compounds are in Phase III trials, which is the last step prior to review by regulatory agencies.
So let us hope that the occurrence as well as intensity of the disease is controlled & reduced by the new drugs. Let us pray and care for those who already under the influence of this disease. And also care for the caregivers who care for the patients.

Re: AD needs attention
Dear Shubhranshu, Nice to see again that you are aware of the current topics in health care. It also is true due to many reasons the cases of AD are increasing but there needs some desperate work which will not only minimize the occurrence but also eradicate the disease & help patients to live a normal life.
Sounds good!
Wow! that really sounds good... If this succeeds, then it would bring lives in many families!
