Dear friends, Now there is rush for M Pharm admissions and some of the states may have even completed the procedure. The admissions for these higher education courses are also being looked as the B Pharm course and there is havoc among students who go for the admissions. The fees have reached to new heights and are soaring to go even further. The government has no control over the private institutes, the students are confused what to do, sometimes they and/or their parents feel why they chose pharmacy instead of Medicine & Engineering.

Just before few days a relative of my friend came and asked what should he do as he had his final year mark list in his hands but no GATE score. He is from Maharashtra and the admission process there is being ruined by the differences between the government bodies and private institute owners. The fees difference between payment, sponsored & regular merit students is something that is causing trouble to mind of parents & students. Last time despite having good rank in GATE the students had to take seats under the sponsored or payment category. What will be the trend this time? Will be regulated or will there be hidden charges other than the fees?

This is not only for one state other states too have many problems for such admissions, I request you all to come forward and discuss them via this blog. Your views, opinions and suggestions for regulating the admission process for M Pharm can provide good guidelines for the institutes & government bodies too. They can be helpful for the students & parents. Your participation is a must because the discussion is not complete until all are involved to get some proper directives for setting the derailed admission procedure back on track.

To start I have one simple suggestion "The rules and regulations in the admission procedure must be made simple and the students also should read them properly before getting into the procedure".

There are thousands of entrance tests sometimes one for a college and other for common admissions what the students should do? Should he/she waste money in just filling the forms and giving the tests at distant locations, should he/she sit waiting for the admission process of his/her state to start, there are thousands questions unanswered and we need to find some solution to it, do you have one, then start now and help your friends.

Good Idea

ksandeep's picture

Dear friend,
Thanks for choosing such a good idea. Yes,now a days only with B.pharm we are not able to cope up with this competitive world. And mere securing of an M.pharm seat doesn't fits u to strive well.Because its the knowledge in the subject that makes the difference. And for this a student must choose the right college by analysing every aspects in it. Now, myself being an final year B.pharm student, do face the same confusion in my mind too about various aspects related to m.pharm. I hope your thought will reach every individual and help the undergraduates a lot. I appeal once again to every student to take an active role in this discussion .

I too hope, these thoughts should reach more n more people

M.pharm a dream for poor, average students

Murugan Veerapandian's picture

Dear Lakshya,
Before five years back B.pharm itself a great achievement for the students. But the case is different now, at present many students thinking that even M.pharm is not a valid achievement for the survival they are wishing to do Ph.D yes its good but,not suitable for all poor / average students they are still struggling to survive in good position. Many are not satisfying with marketing, teaching, even in industry due to pressure, lack of indepentant, poor income. Many times we were discussed these thing during my bachelor days. The ultimate reason is due to their lack of exposure, coaching ,and institution regulations. Many institutes are commercial oriented they are selling the seats for good economic not for individual knowledge. I am not mentioning all, some are there to commercialize the education. From such institutes the students are coming like a blind they are not having enough knowledge in the subject to survive. What they are doing is ,paying and getting the certificate later they are keep on struggling for good settlement. So, the govt. has to regulate this kind of self supporting or management seats.Students should have enough exposure regard their self standard then they have to improve their status by learning new things. If govt . regulations are strict and knowledge oriented means, ultimately the student will concentrate on studies and they will not belive on this payment quota. If the same condition is continuing means then even ph.D also not a valid achievement for the pharmacy families. From my point i wish all the bloods of pharmacy to open their eyes to regulate this talk.

It's true, your concern is right.

Dear Murugan, you have represented your concern really nice. In fact I have seen it happening, when I took admission to B Pharm people thought it to be B Farm, related to agriculture and today those same people come to me asking their children want information about Pharma career! It's really amazing that how Pharma has emerged as an alternative to many fields, some come as they do not get entry to medical branches, some come as they don't get engineering admission, but now students come predefined that they want to go for pharmacy courses rather than other courses. To add more the number of pharmacy colleges has increased drastically and people have money to put in the course, with the salary they see they feel they can get the money easily recovered from the investment made, just sheer business. About M Pharm it really seems to be a dream for poor because of the fees and also due to lacking & loopholes in the education system. Easy and affordable education is now just imaginary and may serve as danger for the students who have potential but no money. For PhD guides are less and students are more, some of the so called big-wigs even charge handsome money for registering a student as PhD under him/her. Its mere shame on the education system and people involved therin. I again appeal all my friends to come and find solution to these problems by sharing their opinions.
