Some helpful tips on blogging
Dear Friends, I am seein more number of members getting involved in blogging & posting topics on the PharmIndia group. To help them improve their blog presentation & boost their moral, I am trying to give here some useful resources & tips for blogging. I know I am not a big or professional blogger but yes I feel that I should help my friends to become better in their presentation & develop their skills.
So go through these simple tips & tricks & I think we'll definitely get more output from our efforts if we try to use these tips.
I found a very good description on “10 Characteristics of a Successful Blogger” on Bloggesive.com which I feel we all need to keep in mind. http://blogsessive.com/blogging-tips/10-characteristics-of-a-successful-blogger/
1. A successful blogger knows what he wants
He always has a target and a strategy. He likes to be organized and has solutions for “unexpected situations“.
2. A successful blogger knows what he’s doing
He is well informed and likes to read a lot about many things, not only about niche related stuff. He has a good background and solid experience in his field.
3. A successful blogger knows how to do it
He knows that “quality is not an act, it’s a habit” (Aristotle). He takes time writing and rewriting if necessary, until he achieves the best result. Also, he knows that being consistent is his strength.
4. A successful blogger is a good friend
He doesn’t see other people in his niche as competitors; he sees them as a fresh source of knowledge and experience exchange. He will always link to them whenever they write something great, as he knows that a link is a sign of appreciation.
5. A successful blogger is a good communicator
Whether it’s his writing style or his commenting activity, he’s always there when the discussion gets interesting. He’s not ashamed to ask and always glad to share some advice.
6. A successful blogger has a personality
He knows that in order to make yourself heard, you need to have a unique tone. Copy-paste is not his style, even if things have already been said. He’ll always look for that something that nobody thought about. He’ll always look to develop the topic under his signature.
7. A successful blogger is always ready for change
He knows we live dynamic times that require a dynamic mind and personality. He’s not only ready to adapt, but also he likes to keep an eye on future developments in his niche, and not only.
8. A successful blogger knows his value
He has a good sense of self-analysis. He’ll never sell himself short, and also, never truly overrate. Knowing you value means knowing your flaws. Knowing your flaws means knowing what to improve.
9. A successful blogger wants to be better
He never thinks about becoming successful. He constantly tries to improve, as, the better the quality he will provide, the more appreciated he’ll be. He’s constantly climbing a mountain without a visible top. He know how much he has climbed, knows he can go further and simply presses on.
And last, but not necessarily least…
10. A successful blogger is a healthy blogger
“Mens sana in corpore sano” (”A healthy mind in a healthy body” - latin proverb). He knows that in order to keep a sharp mind, a healthy body is required. He values his sleep hours, his meals and he has a good working schedule.
Blogging tips to improve your blog. To create a good web blog just write out the thoughts that come into your mind and before you know it you'll be blogging away to beat the band. From http://bloggingtips.blogspot.com/
1. Determining your purpose. Weblogs are used to filter all kinds of information, organize businesses, share family news, establish professional reputations, foment social change, and muse about the meaning of life. Knowing what you hope to accomplish with your weblog will allow you to begin in a more focused way.
2. Knowing your intended audience. You conduct yourself very differently with your friends than you do with professional associates, strangers, customers, or your grandmother. Knowing for whom you are writing will allow you to adopt an appropriate tone.
3. Be real. Even a professional weblog can be engaging. Avoid marketese. Speak in a real voice about real things.
4. Write about what you love. A weblog is the place for strong opinions, whether about politics, music, social issues, gardening, or your profession. The more engaged you are with your subject, the more interesting your writing will be.
5. Update frequently. Interested readers will return to your site if there is likely to be something new. You needn't update every day, but try to post several times a week.
6. Establish your credibility. To the best of your ability, be truthful. Be respectful to your audience and to your fellow bloggers. Understand that on the Internet, your words may live forever, whether they are self-published or archived on another site. In the Weblog Handbook, I propose a set of Weblog Ethics; think about your own standards, and then adhere to them.
7. Linking to your sources. The Web allows a transparency that no other medium can duplicate. When you link to a news story, an essay, a government document, a speech, or another blogger's entry, you allow your readers access to your primary material, empowering them to make informed judgements.
8. Link to other weblogs. Your readers may enjoy being introduced to the weblogs you most enjoy reading. The Web is a democratic medium and bloggers amplify each other's voices when they link to each other. Generously linking to other weblogs enlarges the grassroots network of information sharing and social alliances we create together on the Web.
9. Be patient. Most weblog audiences are small, but with time and regular updates your audience will grow. You may never have more than a few hundred readers, but the people who return to your site regularly will come because they are interested in what you have to say.
10. Play the game by its rules, its good for all. Follow the rules & regulation laid by the site you have chose to blog on. Violation may result in removal of your blog & harsh steps like termination of your account, so be carefull.
I have given these tips as is from the used resources as I think I can't say better than this. If you too have some resources or tips then do mention in your comments. Do tell me how you felt about these tips & whether you have benefited by the blog. Awaiting for your replies & comments.
