Re: Astrazeneca
Dear Jahnavi, AstraZeneca is one of the world's leading pharmaceutical companies.
Even I was surprised when I had checked the list, but as the list is prepared using single source there may be chances of some discrepancies. The list I have presented is India's top ten companies.
AstraZeneca is a good company and has good scope for R&D; also it has its international presence. What is exactly that you wanted to know? If you want to know company details you can visit their website or contact the company people.

Top 10 Companies
Dear Lakshya,
I appreciate your efforts in bringing this news of top ten pharma companies in India. One thing i would like to emphasise regarding these ratings and i hope you would take my words in right spirit.
The list of top companies varies from year to year and it is basically done on the basis of total sales revenue generated throughout the year. One company may have rough patch during the year and may slip in rankings in one year and may climb in rankings the next. In addition the top ten at the end of the year are calculated according to their cumulative average sales per month during the respective year.
In India, a professional body named ORG-MARG - AC Neilson carries out the study through select retail outlets and the results are extrapolated. They publish ORG reports everymonth based on the sales of each company, their product sales, sales according to therapeutic segment, subsegments and top products, top brands, top therapeutic segments and most of the big companies subscribe to these ORG reports. Even the Indian government at times refer to ORG reports to frame any policy regarding pharmaceutical products.
Further there are many ways to categorize a company in top league for eg. a company can be in top ten on the basis of market share, growth, total sales revenue, expenditure on R&D and so on.
Companies like Ranbaxy and Wockhardt have January to December as Financial year whereas other companies follow regular finanical year i.e. from April to March and it is required that these differences are taken into account when you list top 10 companies.

This is called teamwork. :) What you say?

Absolutely correct
Yes sir, I fully agree with you... A person cant know about all the details available...One cant be 'omniinformatic'... However, if he gives the best to find all the details regarding that context, then he must definitely deserve the appreciation; just as lucky has done in informing us... He has tried his level best to inform us and also because the information is in great depth reflecting his hard work definitely makes him deserve the appraisal...
