pharmacist role

73 A. 'TALKING' - The working tool of the pharmacist!

Just as every professional has working tool/s, pharmacy too has a working tool. But this working tool is put to rust or its use is not taught in the pharma schools. It is such an inexpensive tool, moulding and sharpenning and skill fully using it should be taught in the Pharma schools. Contrary, it is suppressed or is not allowed to develop or its use is snubbed.

Pharmacists are not succeeding in the profession as they dont posess this tool or dont use it skillfully to be effective.

Community pharmacy in India and some issues

Retail sale in India mostly takes place through medical shops and the idea of community pharmacy is not known much here in India. The pharmacy profession has been making attempts, consistently and strongly, in the past three decades, to imbue the sellers in the medical shops with professional values and transform the medical shops into community pharmacies.

62. PharmD and OP dispensary

I was the one who was very happy when I learnt that students are taught in hospital environment in PharmD course. This has been one of my major observation and demand that culturing the students away from the hospital and community environment cannot yield healthy pharmacists supportive to community or hospital service.

61. Pharmacist of yester decades

Indian Health Service: Paving the Way for Pharmaceutical Care Quote: "For more than three decades, pharmacists with the federal Indian Health Service (IHS) have practiced pharmaceutical care in its broadest form. In fact, some credit the IHS with having invented the very concept long before the term "pharmaceutical care" was coined." ..Read more.. on:

55. Pharmacist - Boquets & Brickbats

What is myth and what is reality? Whome to believe? In India it is true that Pharmacist is the least cared health professional. but we boast of having hundreds of pharmacy colleges and hundreds of foreign students studying pharmacy in these colleges It is also true that we havn't produced even one community or hospital pharmacist worth its name.

51. Pharmacist - a neglected work force

Dear pharmacist, I was just browsing blindly when I came across a blog dated 2007. The reading took me back to 2 decades old feel that resulted in my write up 'MYTHS & REALITIES' in pharmacy that was published in pharmatimes, republished in IFP journal from switzerland and the article now available in BRITISH LIBRARY DIRECT - LONDON.

47. Tobacco - a nuisense created by man!

Thanks to Shiva for a good opening topic for 2012. I wish you are not a smoker or at least a ex-smoker now! Cigarette is one such product that does more harm when used in the right way! Cigarette is the only product on the market that is perhaps exempted from disclosing the contents. There are no quality parameters which you can use to cross check the quality.

40 Toxicity treatment - a challenge to the hospital

We encounter two distinct toxicity cases in the hospital: Toxicity due to drugs & Toxicity due to poisons Many a time these two though are generally looked upon as alike superficially the practitioners and academicians need to treat them differently. The picture perhaps would be clear if I put it as: 'Toxic effect of a poison' & 'Toxic effect of a drug'

Insufficient quality websites for pharmacy students - Lucinda L. Maine, CEO, AACP

On 10th September, Dr. Lucinda L. Maine, Executive Vice President & CEO of American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy said at Mysore that, "there is a shortage of quality websites for the continuous professional professional development and educational needs of pharmacy students in USA." She was a key speaker in the 'International Seminar on Experiencial Education in Pharmacy Practice' at JSS College of Pharmacy, Mysore. For the Indian Pharmacy students I think there is only one quality website for their improvement that is Pharmainfo.net
