Exams! - part 2
Well my last essay must have told you all about my “extra enhanced” skills in doing my theory papers.
Pharmaceutics, Inorganic chemistry and Organic chemistry are what I call my “use-my-brain” papers.
Pharmaceutics is pure practical application of what you study in your textbooks- what makes a drug what it is, how it is made and finally what are its uses. The only sensible way I know of learning this subject is to draw as many flowcharts, as many pieces of equipment and write as much as possible about what you’ve learnt. It is indeed a great feeling to come back home and tell your parents, “I made Iodex today in college!” It gives you a great sense of accomplishment- more so because you know that not only is it a very important subject but also, that it is very easy.
Inorganic chemistry has been my most hated subject till date. Despite repeated revisions, incessantly scribbling down the equations and learning the standards for various drugs, I never scored more than 75% in the internals. Very surprisingly enough, I scored a 90% in my finals. Go figure!
Organic chemistry is incomparable in its beauty, simplicity and vastness. It is the simplest of all subjects – if it weren’t for the million different structures we students are expected to learn! I still love it because it is one of the very few subjects that work like a charm with constant practice.
