Exams! - part 3
Having done and said all that, I think it’s about time everyone wishes me good luck for my upcoming 2-2 exams. We have a very nice jumble of subjects this semester – all with varying degrees of difficulty.
Organic chemistry II – it includes aromatic and heterocyclic chemistry, drugs which contain these rings and a number of reaction mechanisms. Interesting but nerve racking combination of brain and memory power.
Biochemistry – a truly amazing subject encompassing all life processes and the various diseases which may occur as a result of any dysfunctional relationships among these. I particularly love the practical aspect of it because it awes me to know the consequences of the simplest metabolic errors and how terrifying they are.
Pharmaceutical Engineering – it makes me laugh in astonishment to appreciate the great scope of pharmacy- even if a student is bad at everything in biology and most probably hates it (as most students from math background are likely to), an excellent option is open to them that includes physics, interspersed with chemistry, to manage the equipment, that is perhaps the liver (if not heart and soul) of pharmacy.
Pharmacognosy – I’ve just been introduced to this subject so I won’t say much about it except that…..well humans don’t really accord respect to how indebted they are to all the plants on planet Earth and unless they do, doomsday is just around the corner.
Environmental Studies- an exquisitely beautiful subject if it weren’t for the fact that we are expected to learn the statistics and what-not’s of everything that occurs on every inch of the globe. Surely they should realize that it is up to the youngsters of the planet to steer clear of the destruction and torture inflicted by previous generations on Earth and all its resources? It is commendable that the central government has made it mandatory to include this subject in syllabi across this country, but sad to know that such few people actually attempt to understand the young psyche.
Wish me luck! I hope I do well and all of you do so too!
