Desirabale or side-effects of medications are dependent not only on the physico-chemical properties of the compound, its dosage and pharmacokinetics, but also on the condition or the initial state with regard to circadian variability of target tissues of the systems to be treated.
The term chronesthesy is used to designate rhythmical differences in susceptibility or the sensitivity of a target biosystem to an agent . The target biosystem can be a human tissue for example the circadian rhythm of human skin reaction in terms of the erythema and wheel responses to intradermal injections of histamine has a nocturnal crest and in the bronchial tree there is a circadian rhythm in the response to acetylcholine, among the tested agents , when inhaled in aerosol form .
