The Target biosystem
The target biosystem may be located either at the molecular level of the receptors in different sub-cellular system (membrane structure, enzyme systems etc.) or elsewhere. Therefore, the concept of chronesthesy not only represents changes dependent on the time of dosing in the pharmacokinetics (i.e., the effects of, and reactions to drugs within the body), but also represents changes in other quantifiable phenomena found at the level of the target biosystems.
With regard to chronesthesy the circadian rhythm parameters of many specific variables can be altered at this level due to the response to a given drug at a certain time. Such alterations may be manifested by an acrophase shift or drift (so-called phase response curve) and / or a modification of the period length, mesor or ampli
