Abstract:

A simple, sensitive and reproducible spectrophotometric method was developed for quantitative determination of tizanidine hydrochloride in bulk and pharmaceutical formulations using factorial design for optimization of reaction parameter. In this method, tizanidine hydrochloride was made to react with p-dimethylaminobenzaldehyde (PDAB) reagent to give products including Schiffs bases that were oxidized by ferric ions to give yellow coloured species. The absorbance was measured at 425 nm. Regression analysis of Beer’s plots showed good correlation in the concentration range of 5-50g / ml. The method was validated according to ICH guidelines
