Nirag Shah achieved 99.27 percentile in Graduate Aptitude for Engineering examination 2006

I, Nirag Shaileshkumar Shah, studying in B.Pharm. 6th Semester of Institute
of Pharmacy, Nirma University
of Science & Technology, achieved 99.27 percentile in Graduate Aptitude
Test for Engineering (GATE 2006) examination, which is the prerequisite for
admission to post graduate pharmacy courses in India. I had an All India Rank
of 105. I think I achieved this due to the close supervision of my teachers
Dr. Jagruti Patel from department of Pharmacology, Dr. Avani Amin & Ms.
Tejal Shah for Pharmaceutical Technology and Dr. Anuradha Gajjar from Pharmaceutical
chemistry and all my post graduate seniors.

{josquote}Initially, I was not serious about the examination, I just thought
of appearing for experience.{/josquote} But with the motivation and inspiration
from my friend Niraj and other group mates I started my preparation seriously.
I made an effort of completing each subject from standard books used for that
particular topics which were mentioned in the syllabus. I tried to cover all
the topics of the syllabus. I appeared in all the Pre-Gate exams taken by my
college, which I think helped me a lot, sometimes I had to compromise my routine
academic schedule..

{josquote}Working in a group I think is the key to the preparation of such
competitive exams. {/josquote}Discussion of all the topics with friend helps
in remembering the topic for a longer time and it deepens the knowledge on that
topic. Study of the fundamentals and basic of the pharmaceutical subjects is
also very essential, which I did with the help of my teachers. I tried to do
maximum utilization of my time even while traveling home from the institute.
I advise that only after all the subjects are thoroughly mastered then one should
go for solving papers of GATE, so we can get well versed with the MCQ’s
section. Proper planning and self confidence is another essential key to such
preparative exams.

My future goals are to qualify for National Institute for Pharmaceutical Education
& Research (NIPER),
one of the leading post graduate pharmacy centers in India or to go to the USA
for my post graduation
