In my university the pharmacy education is not up to that standard as in the universities of Punjab that is why university quit the M.Phil programe .Department of Pharmacy was established in 1980. The Department started its classes in various Departments of the University. Initially classes started in Chemistry, Physics and Botany Departments of the University. In 1983, a separate building for the Pharmacy Department was constructed and classes started in the said building. In the beginning only forty students were allowed to take admission in the Department of Pharmacy, University of Balochistan. The first batch completed its four years bachelor degree in 1984. The Department awarded only bachelors degree to the students but an effort has been made for the up gradation of the degree by awarding four M-Phil degrees but as the expertise was not available to continue the M-Phil degree course, the classes were stopped. It is to be noted that one Ph.D degree has been awarded from Department of Pharmacy, University of Balochistan. A decision has been made by the Academics Council, university of Balochistan, to increase the number of seats up to ninety. In year 2004 the Department has started Doctor of Pharmacy (evening program) self finance and One year condense program (on self finance). The University in its own policy accommodates few foreigner students to take admission in the Pharmacy Department. It is to be noted that approximately 1100 students have been graduated from this Department. Usually Department follows the syllabus for the B-Pharmacy course as that of College of Pharmacy, University of the Punjab with few exceptions, whereas Department has adopted five year doctor of Pharmacy course in 2005.
