Case study analysis starts with the proper reading and understanding of the case given case. For a proper analysis, you should read the whole matter two or three times. It mainly consists of the submission of a written report to the instructor and the discussion based on the report. Written report should have a proper structure and start with an introduction or summary of the case. It reflects your understanding of the case and includes the condition of the company, different characters in the case, external and internal factors of the firm.

The second part of the report includes the nature of the case and problems lying in the case. Problem identification needs a good analytical power and it is the main aspect of the case study analysis. Sometime the case may contain more than one problem which may be complicated. If the problems are many, it is better to write the problems by assigning the numbers. It will help you to think of the alternatives or solutions one by one.

Thirdly, you have to write the solutions or alternatives for the problems faced by the company or the individuals in the company. Logical thinking and a good knowledge of the corporate strategy and business aspects are necessary to derive the solutions for the problems in the case. The solutions or recommendations section is very revealing because, your instructor will have a good idea of how much work you put into the case from the quality of your recommendations. Be comprehensive, and make sure they are in line with the previous analysis of the problems so that the recommendations fit together and move logically from one to the next.

Most of the case studies need an implementation part as it is important for the solutions or recommendations to be implemented in the best way. Again the well knowledge of the business tools is important here. Adopting an implementation should consider different factors like cost, time, personnel satisfaction etc.

The report ends with a conclusion which shows the real understanding of the case, its nature and various aspects. Conclusion should be as short as possible and should contain the main message or theme of the case. By reading the conclusion, the instructor can understand whether you have gone deep in to the case or not.

Case study analysis is very important as the pharmacy students are considered as it is one of the criteria to select the candidates for the job, especially in pharmaceutical companies. In that way it is not only important for the management students but for the whole pharmacy students who seek careers in industry.
