My MPharm part 1 university exams are coming up…starting from May 30th ..! Hectic days are going on with hefty syllabus… Simply heedful to the books is the only way before me… Now, I won’t be getting enough time to concentrate on my blogs to this site at least up to June 7th. The tight examination schedule with no gaps in between the exams.. It’s the time to study..!
Our department (Dept of Pharmacy Management) comprises of two specializations i.e. MPharm in Pharmaceutical Marketing and MPharm in Pharmaceutical Administration. Both these courses differ by only two papers out of five. My stream, Pharmaceutical Marketing has the following subjects for the first year.
Principles and Practice of Management: It includes introduction to management aspects, Organization, Human Resource Management, Motivation theories and industrial disputes, Communication skills, Quantitative aptitude skills, Systems management, Innovative management practices like TQM etc. This subject aims on the development and improvement of the managerial skills of the pharmacy students.
Pharmaceutical Marketing: This subject is considered to be the most important subject among the five. Pharmaceutical industry, Pharmaceutical Marketing management, Consumer behavior, segmentation, targeting and positioning, product management, distribution channels, pricing, promotion, strategic marketing, market planning, market opportunity and competitive advantage and legal, social & ethical issues regarding pharmaceutical marketing are the main aspects of this section.
Disease Management:
In this we have to learn about the pathophysilogy, drug therapy (including mechanism of action) and critical analysis of rational use of drugs in various diseases.
Sales and Advertisement:
This subject spread the light to the area of pharmaceutical sales and advertisements. It provides valuable idea about the set up of sales organizations, their management, coordination, sale department relations and public relations, sales force compensation, personal selling skills, strategies applied in selling , preparation of sales budget , sales territories etc.
Concept of advertising the pharmaceutical products, role and various perspectives on advertising are also the main theme of this section. It includes: advertisement planning and decision making, group influence and word mouth advertising, creative approaches in advertisement and advertisement budgeting, branding and packaging strategies of the pharma products.

Drug Therapy and Pathophysiology...
First of all, all the best for your exams (sorry, I couldn't wish you earlier because I was myself hanged up with it)...Actually, I wanted to know what all you have to study in Drug therapy and Pathophysiology....I mean, is the syllabus same as that studied during B.Pharm or anything more studied....????Please do reply me what more is studied in these 2 subjects.....
Disease Management
Thank you for your comment..The name of the subject is disease management in which we have to study drug therapy and pathophysiology of different diseases(about 57 diseases)..In this paper we have to study more compared to Bpharm syllabus..drug use in children, elderly and some aspects about pregnancy and lactation are also included in the same.

Thank you for your wishes..Now my exams are over..if you are so much interested in international marketing go for pharmaceutical MBA or courses like Pharma marketing or even pure MBA in marketing..
