A revolution in transdermal delivery system
Microneedles, which are made up of stainless still, sized in microns and work so efficiently that no extra hypodermic injections are required.
The microneedles technology to gather with transdermal drug delivery system shows a good clinical use for the sustained release system. This system works so efficiently that even after completion of treatment pores, which were created by the microneedles healed and even no drug permeation will allow by that place.
A research team, leaded by Daniel Wermeling, Dept. of Pharmacy practice and Science at UK’s college of pharmacy carried out a practical in which they deliver m-opioid receptor antagonist neltrexone using microneedles coated transdermal patch. Thumb sized patch contained 50 stainless still microneedles with size of 620 microns.
In the volunteer’s team, two groups were set. Control team and Test team. To both team’s volunteers treated with same drug but in control team patch does not contain microneedles. Team was kept under observation for 72 hours.
In blood stream, detectable amount pharmacologically active levels of drug compared to control group does not found. Even after 48 hours from administration, concentration of drug was remained stable. After completion of therapy pores created by needles heals and no skin permeability was found even during testing of electrical resistance of skin.
So such technology embedment bring revolutionary change in the sustained release transdermal drug delivery system.

But in one of your blogs....
Dear Pratyesh, thanks for the details regarding my query...But, in one of your blogs (MTS Part-I), you had stated that microneedles use a series of tine systems...So, is that thing different from what I am asking here???
Re: would the delivery by micro-needles be like tine test???
In Tuberculin, Purified Protein Derivative system, Contains soluble products from mycobacterium, which react with lymphocytes to release mediators of cellular hypersensitivity. Some of these mediators induce inflammatory response. Positive reaction is consistent with previous or current tuberculosis infection or previous BCG vaccination.
These all come in one one injection with a different doses like
5 tuberculin unit/0.1 mL
1 tuberculin unit/0.1 mL
5 tuberculin unit/0.1 mL
250 tuberculin unit/0.1 mL.
As compare to Tubrculin test, micro needles embedding drug and targeted region get very quick drug dose without any invasion.
So these two techniques are completely different.
would the delivery by micro-needles be like tine test???
actually pratyesh, i wanted to clear off a problem on this topic which i had encountered earlier when i was preparing to post a blog on microneedles...the problem was that would the drug be embedded over needles of those microneedles?? if yes, then what would be the difference between microneedles and the method employes in tine test in tuberculin PPD vaccination???
