7-Chloro-6-fluoro-N-[(1E)-(4-substitutedphenyl) methylidene]-1, 3-benzothiazole -2-amine (4a-f) have been synthesized by the cyclization of 3-chloro-4-fluoroaniline (1) with potassium thiocyanate and bromine to give 7-chloro-6-fluoro-2-aminobenzothiaz ole (2) followed by treatment with aromatic aldehyde (3a-f) in presence of alcohol. The title compounds & their derivatives have been characterized by their spectral data. The synthesized compounds screened for their antibacterial activity against Gram negative and gram positive such as Escherichia coli MTCC 1687 & Staphylococcus aureus MTCC 737.
