During my first year we were asked to attend the seminar which was meant to our seniors and the professor who was unknown of this taught at his best which benefited our seniors can u guess what it was for us? Nothing than a headache. It was not the fault of the professor but I was amateur .So, the teacher must know the level of understanding which can be done by asking them a few questions.
The method of teaching must be an adaptation to the knowledge and the students of the students. In A class should be interesting in order to grab the attention of the students. In my education period I have been taught by many teachers who were and are very interesting .For me a class should be a perfect dish ……..with all the ingredients in optimum concentration .Spices, salt or masala whatever the ingredients we use in preparing dishes similarly there are many ingredients which can make a class very interesting like the humour ,loud voice ,illustrating with examples, allowing the students to express their feelings or doubts and getting a proper feedback from them.
Teacher/professor may be radiant and may be thorough with the subject but is this alone sufficient? In my opinion may not be. Teacher should realize that finishing off the class with what he wanted to teach is not the criterion. Most importantly a class should be as a dialogue rather than a monologue especially at the professional level. In my pinion a class is effective when the students get deeply involved in the class but not just superficially nodding their heads but not just nodding the heads during the lecture.
Ultimately the effectiveness of teacher depends upon the students, the way they respond to the teacher. Some classes taught by our professors were like Greek and Latin. I will illustrate this with an exampleProfessional colleges the criterion which decides the destiny of the class is the qualitative parameter than the quantitative one.
