My first Achievement

Ahievement to many may sound as winning prizes and bagging fame but to me it is just upto the individuals in thier own terms and for me i feel i have achieved any thing if that brings happyness to me and to my parents that is what i define for myself.
To justify the way i have considered as achievement i cite an example in my real life.In the month of march a collective gathering of the colleges affliated to the kakatiya university was conducted under "RECIPE" and i represented my college for the event debate. To my surprise the rules were strange . The rule was that there had to be two participants and one has to speak for the topic and other partner has to speak against the topic which i found nowhere except there.
we were given the topic 2 min before and myself and my partner prepared well on the topic and i spoke very well but unfortunately my partner stammered a bit and we lost the prize ,we ended on the losing side. When i have enquired they said that i recieved maximum marks for opposing but the average marks made the difference.
Then howcome this be an achievement?
For me the "DEFEAT" is the ahievement as it made me to learn more than my success, it layed the foundations for my forthcoming success. My presence in this competition is just becuase of the defeat i faced which always warns that inspite of doing my best there are many other many factors which i have to conside to assure myself.
Personally for me i consider it as the achievemnt as it was a proud moment representing my college for the first time and the applauses fo the audience and the tap i have recieved from my principle were immemorable.
when i infromed the happening to my parents they said that they were happy about it it was just like a seed sown for my bright furure and it was rightly said as i have won in many events in the future. So my friends, for me my defeat is my ahievement as it was an eye-opener for me and boosted my morale.

Keep up your spirits!
i know....debates in that format are annoying, aren't they?
i hated them too...had them at college...i liked the one i participated in only cuz i won it :p
anyway,i really congratulate you on your positive attitude...
keep that up and you'll reach for the stars!

nirupama,
There is no flatttery and what i said was shear truth and u desereve it.
Congrats on your fine spirit
Dear Rameshwar Reddy
I want to congratulate you on your fine spirit. Participation is the important thing. But it surprises me to know that you do not know that debates are conducted for teams. All the more reason for you to participate in many more events. This time when you are participating in an event , make a call to the organisers one week ahead and prepare well. You must develop a great hunger ( Kasi in Telugu , not akali) for success. That is when you will succeed.
I want to tell you one experience. When I was a student of B.Pharm , way back in 70s, I used to win almost all the prizes in elocution competitions and in debates. But very few people were participating and I was not really feeling the happiness that comes out of success. Then one day a debate was announced on the topic "generics vs brands". in the one week time available I prepared well on both "for generics" and "for brands". This is because I was planning to grab success over one important opponent. After entering the hall I asked our organiser ( our senior) to keep my name after this opponent ( another senior who is now a well known professor and scientist and a great friend also to me ) speaker's name.
Well, He spoke for generics. Then immediately I went and spoke for brands. ( When you want to defeat somebody you must take the opposite side). Our professor who was the judge that day was greatly impressed by both the speeches, left the hall without giving his decision but eventually i was declared as the winner.
Thats a big story I told, but my bottom line is this, Develop a great yearning for success, and success will be yours.
Re:congrats
Dear mam,
I do what you have exactly insisted but i felt strange was that in debate as a team we have to oppose or support the topic but one of us was to support and viceversa which i found nowhere i am sorry id i couldn't express the point clearly
Reply...........
good
Dear Rameshwar Reddy
Ignore the story I told. It is only a memory which came back to me of my young days when I used to be rather super focussed on this type of extracurricular activities.
The format of debate is this:
Suppose the topic is generics vs Brands.
Each college that participates in the debate sends a team of two members; one of the two talks in favour of generics and another in favour of brands.
Prizes will be given to the best performing teams and sometimes also to best individual speakers.
I also want to emphasize the point that when you are preparing for a debate , prepare well by gathering a lot of information and by knowing all the rules of the competition.
Ex; In the first 20:20 game between India and Pakisthan; there was a tie breaker, Bowlers were asked to hit the wickets when batsmen were not there; India won the match because India won the tie.
Pakisthan actually claimed that it never knew about this rule, so did not pactise , so did not win.
Is that the right thing to say for an international team to say?
All the best . More and more achievements will definitely land in your lap.
