Job cuts in pharma industry

Bayer, the largest German drug maker, said on Feb 28th that it would cut 950 jobs in a Berlin plant as part of a plan to save 925 million dollars, a year starting in 2009.

Pfizer, AstraZeneca and more recently Abbott Laboratories have all announced plans for major staff reductions.

Pfizer, AstraZeneca and more recently Abbott Laboratories have all announced plans for major staff reductions.

Abbott confirmed plans to cut about 200 jobs in its drug discovery business and eliminate an additional "several hundred" pharmaceutical sales representatives.
