Discontinued Products in Canada

  There were few products mentioned in Canadian Pharmaceutical Journal, CPJ, Jan-April 2007 editions, as they are going to be discontinued soon ......(some of them are discontinued already).

Biquin durules (quinidine bisulfate 250 mg extended release tablets by Astra Zeneca) have been discontinued. No other similar product exists on the market.

Halcion (triazolam 0.25 mg tablets) has been discontinued by Pfizer Canada Inc. Generic versions of triazolam continues to be available as tablets of 0.125 mg and 0.25 mg.

Vaponefrin (racemic epinephrine HCL 2.25% for oral inhalation) has been discontinued by Sanofi-Aventis Canada Inc. There is no other similar product available.

Novoline ge 10/90 Penfill and Novoline ge 20/80 Penfill are being discontinued by Novo Nordisk.  Enough stock remains until the end of May 2007. Other Novolin ge Penfill premixes remain available.

Ventodisk (salbutamol sufate powder for inhalation 200mcg/120 dose and 400mcg/120 dose by GlaxoSmithKline Inc.) and Ventodisk Diskhaler are being discontinued. Other Ventolin products continue to be available.

Monitan (acebutolol 200 and 400 mg tablets by Wyeth Pharmaceuticals) has been discontinued. Generics are available.
