Dear Bloggers, Today, I present to you another case of Plagiarism occured in China. This shows us that Plagiarism is occuring all around the world. Some definate and appropriate steps should be taken to amend and prevent before it is too late. Here are some excerpts from the article appeared in a chinese newspaper named as 'China View' on Feb 4,2009. A Chinese researcher, He Haibo, associate professor with the Zhejiang University had been caught for plagiarism and fake research in papers published in international journalS. He was an associate professor with Zhejiang University and was doing research on Traditional Chinese Medicines.(TCM). One of China's top TCM experts, Li Lianda, a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, was also implicated in the scandal as Li was listed as one of the co-authors of all the four papers. He copied statistics in two articles from his PhD tutor Dai Zezai, while statistics in two other articles were partially compiled by himself and copied from others. He also sent one article to two journals for publication The university added that He Haibo had been sacked. The fraud was uncovered in October by Dai when he discovered a paper published by British-based Phytotherapy Research, written by He, had copied his own paper for the International Journal of Cardiology last year. Journals in Germany, Poland and Holland also retracted the articles for plagiarism and duplicate submission In a confessionary letter, He also admitted that he made up the fact his articles were supported by national or university funds, as well as that the articles were proofread by top scientists before he sent them to the journals. Presenting the correct numerals is not a plagiarism Until and unless you post it in a correct style with referencing. Like for example, According to WHO, nearly 10-20% of the world population ...,and so on. It is just my view. What you say sana??

Dear Sirisha, I have a similar view regarding this. As long as the references are quoted it would not be regarded as plagiarism. This will be true for any data acquired whatsoever. Thank you very much for your comment. Regards, Sana Bangliwala, The Ayurpreachers.

Dear Sana,

I enjoyed reading your bolg which was dated on Fri 01.07.2011 but what I was noticed another blog published in raghanaveen's blog dated on 01.03.2011 talking about the same case that you presented in your blog. My questions are:

  1. Is it a coincidence to write the same story (ofcourse in different version)?.
  2. Is this type of coincidence considered as plagiarism?

Thanks with all my respect

Respected Sir, Thank you very much, sir, for bringing to my notice about the similarity of the blogs.I was not aware that this article had already been put up on the blog.I apologize for the same. The answers to your queries are as below. 1)Yes, definately it is a coincidence that the same article was put up by me as i was not aware about it being posted earlier. 2)No, it would not be considered as a case of plagiarism as it was a case of conincidence and not done intentionally. Had it beem otherwise, the references would not have been quoted . Thanks and Regards, Sana Bangliwala, The Ayurpreachers.

hello sana, you have given a very simple presentation, it is good while i was preparing my case study blog i have found a number of blogs that root back to china, this shows that their the screening for plagiarism is very well done which brings into light many cases what do u say?
Sana Bangliwala's picture

Dear K.Raja krishna, Thank you very much for your comment. As for the reply to your comment, well, yes. i agree that a number of cases of plagiarism in China are available and this shows that there is some kind of scrutiny to stop it but it is not enough to decrease the number of cases of plagiarism or stop it. So, i strongly feel that some definate and strong steps should be taken to avoid plagiarism. Thanks and Regards, Sana Bangliwala, The Ayurpreachers.
