Plagiarism is the art of taking credit of the work which is done by someone's else. What is your thinking about 3-idiot movie???.... , can it came under plagiarism ? I think 3-idiots movie "STORY" is the e.g of plagiarism in which many parts are simillar to "Five Point Someone" written by CHETAN BHAGAT and in the movie their is no credit or reference given to the book or author. "According to the Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary, to "plagiarize" means * to steal and pass off (the ideas or words of another) as one's own * to use (another's production) without crediting the source * to commit literary theft * to present as new and original an idea or product derived from an existing source. In other words, plagiarism is an act of fraud. It involves both stealing someone else's work and lying about it afterward". 1 "All of the following are considered plagiarism: * turning in someone else's work as your own * copying words or ideas from someone else without giving credit * failing to put a quotation in quotation marks * giving incorrect information about the source of a quotation * changing words but copying the sentence structure of a source without giving credit * copying so many words or ideas from a source that it makes up the majority of your work, whether you give credit or not ."1 The technical matter which they write in their research or review article are often pretended by the authors as their own expertise. This is knowm as the offensive act of plagiarism. "Plagiarism can be deliberate or inadvertent. In the latter case, the fault usually lies with sloppy organization and note-taking. Many students lose track of the source of the notes that they have taken, and eventually come to believe that they are original ideas". 2 LIMITATIONS: "Plagiarism hurts everyone involved: 1. Plagiarists do not acquire the skills legitimate work would teach them, and risk failure and expulsion. 2. Classmates who have worked hard for their grades have to compete with plagiarists for jobs and admissions 2. Teachers have to take time out of the education process to deal with plagiarism. 3. Administrators find the principles upon which their institutions are founded undermined by plagiarism, and must devote resources to combating it3" Suggestions: Use your own ideas and words. Practice is essential to learning. Every time you think something credible, make the habit of penning it dowm immediately. Always keep all the reading material for maintaing the evidence as a proof. Always give yourself enough time to incorporate your concept to fram in your own words.. Make sure you don't give?up. It will be hard in the beginning but sooner or later you will conquer. Always give proper reference for any citation for doing justice to the original author. Cases of citation can be easily avoided by doing proper citation * Avoid using others' work with minor "cosmetic" changes. Examples: Using "less" for "fewer", reversing the order of a sentence, changing terms in a computer code, or altering a layout. If the work is essentially the same, you must give credit. The emphasis should be given on creative writing instead of Paraphrasing. Paraphrasing is the art of converting the concept of another writer in your own words. In involves the shifting or replacement of words here and there eg. Replacements of sentences by merely changing the few words, to generate the same meaning without giving the credit to other author. * CITATION of the Work is MANDATORY.
