Entirely new scenario in science began with the invention of Microscope, later cell, Organelles and finally major landmark is the discovery of DNA. Better understanding of genetic information was started in 1953 with its discovery.

Hi everyone..as listed in the topics, i am here to present Northern blotting technique. Well, the northern blotting technique is similar to Southern blotting but the major difference is that the present technique deals with differentiating the gel fractionated segments of RNA. As said before, blotting is entrapment of nucleic acid on to Nitrocellulose or Nylon membrane.

Southern Blotting Technique: It is named after its originator. Let us deal what exactly it says. Blotting is a process of transferring the fragments in a gel to a membrane made of Nitrocellulose or Nylon. Procedure: 1. The DNA is cut with a suitable Restriction Endonucleases and run on a gel. 2. The DNA is denatured by treatment with an alkali (NaOH).
