PRECAUTION AGAINST LEUKOTRIENE INHIBITORS..
Recently FDA has recommended precaution against drugs Montelukast (marketed as Singulair), Zafirlukast (marketed as Accolate), and Zileuton (marketed as Zyflo and Zyflo CR). These drugs are used as leukotriene inhibitors and has led to neuropsychiatric events which include post market cases of aggression, agitation, dream abnormalities, hallucinations, depression, insomnia, irritation etc. So FDA recommended the following precaution in drug labelling..
*Patients and healthcare professionals should be aware of the potential or neuropsychiatric events with these medications.
*Patients should talk with their healthcare providers if these events occur.
*Healthcare professionals should consider discontinuing these medications if patients develop neuropsychiatric symptoms.

See..previously leukotriene antagonists are used to treat asthma, rhinitis etc. FDA had recently introduced leukotriene modifiers instead of leukotriene antagonists(of course both are dealt under same heading leukotriene inhibitors). In other words these are alternative medications available.
For eg.Montelukast is recommended as an alternative medication to inhaled corticosteroids or as adjunctive therapy for the treatment of mild and moderate persistent asthma. These do not affect a particular body tissue. Common side effects seen is headache accounts for 18% individuals.

As you know there is lot to cover under Leukotriene inhibitors. In short,Leukotriene inhibitors are prescription medications that treat asthma and some allergies by blocking the formation or activity of leukotrienes—small mediator chemicals produced by cells in the body.

Dream abnormalities are one of the neuropsychiatric symptoms seen in this. Emotional liability, nervousness may be seen.
